I didn't have time for a new "Top 100" post today, due to an editing deadline crunch. (No one's paying me to write full-time about TV yet.) To tide you over, here's an Andy Griffith Show episode that did not make the Top 100 but stuck in my mind because of the music. It's inconceivable that a present-day sitcom would be scored like a movie (or a Warner Brothers cartoon), but The Andy Griffith Show didn't skimp on its soundtrack.
"Aunt Bee the Warden" has a particularly jazzy score, heavy on the tuba and filled with comic stingers. It's a pretty silly episode, involving Otis the town drunk serving his jail time at Andy's house. (One of his big laugh lines is "What I mess I made of my life!") But go to 15:15 to hear the not-so-incidental music, which really starts swinging at about 18:35.

I love that show!) even I'm in an anti-alcoholics league, this episode gives me a good laugh.
