People are breaking the law to feed them on the South Shore, and they're getting chemotherapy in Worcester County.

Dover to release the hounds?

The Dover-Sherborn Press reports that the town of Dover is considering a deer hunt -- not because residents are looking for head trophies, or people are fed up with the price of meat at Whole Foods, or the deer are swiping salads from barbecues. The problem is deer ticks and Lyme disease:

“Dover is ground zero for Lyme disease in Massachusetts,” said [Dr. Stephen] Kruskall. “In my experience, I would venture to say that 10 percent of Dover residents have had Lyme disease, and that’s a horrendous number.”

Kruskall says that up to 500 deer may need to be killed or removed from Dover in order to combat the problem.
